The progression idea · Send Science journal

Your climb. Your pace. Your purpose.

Competition, outdoor projects, wellbeing and community can each give climbing a direction.

A pathway begins with a purpose

The original Guided Progression concept makes room for four directions: the Competitor, the Lifestyle Climber, the Wellness Warrior and the Community Builder. They share foundations without requiring everyone to pursue the same outcome.

Make development visible

Movement awareness and climbing skills build the base. Physical preparation, tactics and experience add context as the demands grow. The point of a visible pathway is to help someone understand what they are learning and how it connects to their own goals.

Progress without pressure

A milestone can make learning tangible without setting a deadline for everybody. A person's experience, circumstances and ambitions should shape the route through the sport. A grade is one piece of the picture.

Keep the journey open

Climbing Escalade Canada's Long-Term Athlete Development framework includes recreational and competitive development as well as lifelong participation. Send Science draws on that breadth in its progression vision. Its public concept is not a live assessment, coaching programme or certification system.
